Configure Google Maps API access

Create a Google Cloud project, enable billing and the required APIs, generate a key, and save it in the Zoho CRM extension configuration.

Choose the project that will own the API key

Select an existing Google Cloud project, or use the project selector to start creating a new project for this Zoho CRM extension.

Create a new project if you do not already have one

Use a clear project name so your team can recognize that the project is used for Zoho CRM address autocomplete.

Confirm the project name

Finish project creation and wait for Google Cloud to make the project available.

Switch into the project you created

Use the project selector or the creation notification to make the new project active before creating credentials.

Create the API key

Open Credentials, choose Create credentials, then select API key. Restrict the key to the required Google Maps APIs when possible.

Protect the Google Maps API key

Google recommends restricting API keys by both where they can be used and which APIs they can call. Configure these restrictions after confirming the widget works.

Add an application restriction

Restrict where the key can be used. For browser-based Maps usage, use website restrictions and add only the approved Zoho or extension origins that are required for your installation.

Restrict the key to required APIs

Use API restrictions so the key can call only the Google Maps services the widget needs, such as Maps JavaScript API, Places API, and Places API (New) when enabled.

Keep separate keys for separate uses

Do not reuse one unrestricted key across unrelated apps. Separate keys make it easier to restrict, rotate, and troubleshoot usage.

Monitor quota and billing

Review Google Cloud usage, quotas, and billing alerts so unexpected traffic or configuration mistakes are caught early.
